It's 50 years this year since Barry Hoban won the Belgian cobbled classic Ghent-Wevelgem. He is still the only British winner of this amazing and celebrated race.
The year was 1974, and it was Barry's super season, during which he won seven big races including one of his career total eight stage victories in the Tour de France.
Hoban was one of the best of his generation, earning the respect of his peers in a unique 20-year professional career that saw him race in the eras of three five-time winners of the Tour de France; Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault.
To celebrate the golden anniversary of his classic victory Chris Sidwells will tell Hoban's story, illustrated by many previously unpublished photos, and will be offering copies of Hoban's latest autobiography Vas-y-Barry!
